CHANDIGARH: Amidst heated exchanges with the deputy speaker, BJP members in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha staged a walk-out when he turned down their leader, Krishan Pal Gurjar''s plea to allow him to speak on the budget for the year 2004-05.
When an infuriated deputy speaker told Gurjar during the debate on budget proposals that it was his prerogative to decide as to who would speak, Gurjar was heard telling him that the reality was that the treasury benches did not want to hear him.
Even as the chair insisted that Gurjar should wait for his turn, the latter along with other party MLAs walked out in protest.
Talking to media persons in the press lobbey, Gurjar said the government generally got worried whenever it was his turn to speak in the House because it knew that he would expose them for their acts of omission and commission.
Describing the Chautala government as anti-farmer, he said the proposed budget was a farce on the people of Haryana because every section of society was feeling cheated.
